Founder, Makuyo, Understands First-Hand the Challenges Women Face
meet the brand
According to the National Library of Medicine, women are significantly more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and heart disease than men. Between juggling careers, families, and personal aspirations, self-care often gets relegated to the bottom of the to-do list, becoming a luxury we convince ourselves we don't have time for. So, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, and over 15 years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer in corporate America, SIIKA Herb + Honey Co.’s Founder, Makuyo, understands first-hand the challenges women face in maintaining harmony between masculine-dominated professional environments and personal wellness.
In 2019, Makuyo needed a break to recharge and went to Ghana to do so. It was on this respite that the vision for SIIKA came to her. Inspired by her maternal and paternal matriarchs, she channeled her passion for plants and herbs into crafting products that pay homage to her lineage while addressing the self-care needs of modern women. Her journey from corporate engineer to holistic wellness advocate reflects her unwavering commitment to authenticity, innovation, and social impact. Through SIIKA Herb + Honey Co., she invites women to embrace their authenticity, nurture their well-being, and embark on a transformative journey towards self-discovery and empowerment.
